If tariffs on resins, processing machinery, tools, and plastic products come into effect, trade wars between China and the United States may disrupt the global supply chain. This situation may first occur in early June.
The United States has classified injection molding machines, extruders, blow molding machines, thermoforming and processing products as imports, and can impose a 25% tariff. In this titular strike, China listed low-density polyethylene (LDPE), polyolefin elastomers and plastomers (POEs, POPs), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) resin, nylon (PA) 66 resin, and aromatics. Semi-aromatic PAs and their copolymers, as well as epoxy-related plastic products, will be taxed at the time of import. PET sheets, films, acrylics and polycarbonate resins are also on the list.
